To align with the National Education Policy 2020, the Maharashtra government will introduce NCERT mathematics and science textbooks in Maharashtra state board schools starting next academic year. The phased implementation begins with classes 1, 3, 5, 8, and 11 in the academic year of 2025-26.
The decision was made during a meeting attended by officials, principals, and teacher representatives. During the discussion, School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar highlighted the increasing popularity of CBSE schools, attributing it to their emphasis on preparing students for competitive examinations.
